Went for a little spin up Signal Hill, St. John's, NL today.  Cabot Tower in the background.  While the Tower was not there at the time, the hill is the site where the first trans-Atlantic wireless communication was received.  You can see from the signpost in the second shot that we're pretty close to the Titanic, and from the terrain of the sea and land you can understand that if the iceberg didn't get the Titanic, a rock may have.  The third image in the sequence shows Cape Spear off in the distance, the most Easterly point of North America.  The third to last shot shows how you can hike around the cliff base of Signal Hill (hang onto your hat, and don't look down!) and the final shot shows a home-made panorama of The Narrows, the entrance to St. John's harbour.  Didn't get a shot of the climb... nasty little hill, very steep in places for the bike, but a great workout on the legs!
 Cheers,
 Climbing Grouse
PS.  And yeah, I do realize that North America is not old at all compared to Europe!!!
