ON TOP OF THE CALANDA
Back in 2003 - what a famous day! Let's do it again, maybe Murray is joining us too. I will be damned if he's not carrying WINGS in his backpack ... famous Wings!

The Devil Made Me Do It

Belching SchtaiBuck? Wow, that is talent, Men. Our Canadian beer isn't quite the same; it's sponsored by the devil and makes you dream of flying canoes of natives. Maybe that's what your horned four-legger sees on the mountain top... good ol' Maudite off in the distance...

Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Cheers (but not too many cheers with this stuff...)

Find the frog

The pic of the Screech Owl on Adele's Blog reminded me of this pic I took this summer while on a little hike around the pond with the little ladies. Can you find the Green Frog?

Cheers, M

Ok... a hint... intentionally just off of centre...

Er... nous ne parlons pas de francais... unless...

Sorry to say we only speak bad high-school french 'round here except when we're: 1) sipping with the Grouse (she's such a tart), 2) trying to sound pretentious, or 3) trying to do both 1) and 2) above at once. But it's all good. Maybe if you care to learn some french these ladies can help you...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhKpEZ4N_VU

parlez vous français?

Mini-Schtai-Men Veut une Bouteille Aussi, SVP...

  • Une bouteille en plus, s'il vous plait... as I've got three and the camouflaged little guy on my knee has none!

M

PS... You make me drool, ya fool, by adding in the 12 year old Grouse...that bird does not fly here, and I wish she'd migrate to my local barley juice store!

a heavy load on my shoulder

or as my cat would say: Diz no FamousGrouse, diz BlackGrouse Magix. I seez no LowlandsParkz. Evuryone seez daz mah frenz Murray wif hims uncle barley juice from the Highland Park Distillery. Yu wantz to fool mah?

Life's a beach... WHAT BEACH?!?

Snow... bikes... umph. Surely you jest, Mr. Werro. Yesterday started at 5:30AM with a hour or so of quality snowblower time, to remedy the 35cms of powder that fell overnight. That was followed by two hours of repair time today.... First by me to the snowblower, then repairs by the Grouse to my soul. We don't mind up here though... we just wear our tough 7-Eleven (short sleeve) jersey and our MellowYellowWerro hat to keep it all on the straight and narrow.

Look closely... it ain't redeye...the devil is in the details... Me thinks there's a Schtaimen amongst that snow...

Cheers (many times over), Grouse Park (of the Lowlands, not Highland)

chullo cap

Just back from another run - it's damn cold here right now but sunny. The Alpaca chullo hat I got from Adel (besides a wonderful homemade cheesecake & da FamouseGrouse) works great in these conditions.

My own "Highland Park"

Until I get to Uncle Highland's distillery in the Scottish Isles, here's my tribute to the juice of the barley... There's Schtaimen and then there's SchtaiScotch, I guess. Remember: Use a helmet; build SchtaiScotch responsibly.

Cheers, (and I mean that!)

Thanks Mike, it was fun and I had a good workout on the way back.
