I picked up a half a dozen 70cm long sparklers, and after standing back for a minute, the girls just couldn't resist the excitement of the sparkling wands. Great fun with the lassies to bring in the New Year!

Run Update / Too Many Calories Too!

Too many Christmas Calories for me, too, so I decide to grab my MellowWerroYellow hat and go for a run around the neighbourhood. A few kms later and... the 12 Year Old Grouse calls me... then ma femme, she made some Gingerbread Crisps with Pecans and also some Cherry Walnut Sugar Cookies, they call me, too... So what can I guy do? LIVE LIFE, that's what he can do!

Biking update

Didn't touch the bubble bike since over 2 month nor did I ride since end of October. Cleaned the bike today and put on a new bubble-free tire. No tubes of course! Bike is ready to ride. Rider needs a few more days to prepare mentally. I am so glad the Famous Grouse bottle still fits!

Grouse Ice Rink Update

Had a warm spell (above zero Celsius, with rain, even) on Christmas Day, so we lost a lot of our White Shit. Yet, with the tarp and rink boards down, the last two days of -11 to -14 Celsius have been great for flooding the Grouse Ice Rink. Went out this AM to see how my work had went with an overnight of -11, and noticed something in the back right corner...

... upon closer inspection...

Ooooooohhh YEAH! It IS the Grouse Ice Rink! Look what's growing out of the ice! (Too bad the 12 Year Old one is empty... wonder how that happened?)

Please know that I will not tell you how I flooded this rink in order to get Da Grouse to grow... I'll leave it to you all to FIGURE OUT THAT ONE!!!

Snowy Fun!

Sorry I've been away for a while... busy time of the year for Mr. Teacher up until yesterday, when school ended for the Christmas break. Also, the younger lady here, Fiona, had developed a rare infection in her lymph system. While her infection is still not fully sorted out, you can see that she and her sister Zoe have remained in great spirits, as they await Santa Claus' trek around the world!

I cut this log today, the saw was just big enough to to the job.

Pick out your bar top. Are they big enough?.... they are approximately 2 1/16" thick x 22 1/4" wide x 64" long. Jens, if Oregon had cows that looked that good I would be hand milking a whole herd of them twice a day in that freezing weather with a smile on my face!

When I moved to the Oregon Coast I was told it is very mild here and never gets cold. Right now it's 25F (-4 Celsius).

Randy, If I build a Famous Grouse bar here with your Monkey Pod boards we wouldn't need ice for the Scotch. I rather get a burned belly from the kauaian sun than frozen fingers from the Oregon Coast "Heatwave"

The Napali coast viewed from Kokee at 4000 ft. (1219 meters) elevation. If you had really good eyesight you could see the icey Oregon coastline across the ocean from here. I have some nice pieces of wood to make a bar top, you can have them, they weigh about 200 lbs. (91 kilos) each how shall we send them, airmail? Randy
